Welcome to the Smart Mama, Happy Baby menu plans! Menus are arranged by season and are downloadable & printable.

Our menus have been created with the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle in mind; please read the first section for full details! Though you can adapt these menus for pregnancy by “crossing over” your fuel types, these menus are geared more towards non-pregnant mamas who are past the first several weeks postpartum (so your milk supply is well-established). We have pregnancy menus coming for you pregnant & early postpartum menus – and there are several menu plans already created in the Perfect Prenatal Nutrition class!

Trim Healthy Mama Overview

Trim Healthy Mama is an eating plan created by two stay at home Mamas. The plan centers around separating your fats from your carbs. We do this by only eating one “fuel” at a time. You’ll find three types of meals in these menu plans:

Carb-Centered (CC): Meals that are extremely low in fat and high in carbs with a bit of protein to balance it all out. These meals are where we eat beans, rice, quinoa and oats. While these meals aren’t always as savory as their sister “Fat-Focused” is, they still provide amazing amounts of energy. Eating Carb-Centered meals doesn’t mean indulging in all the carbs! We focus on gentle carbs that are easily digested. No white bread, white potatoes or white rice here! 🙂

Fat-Focused (FF): Fat Focused meals are indulgent. You’ll find plenty of cheese, cream, fatty meat and decadent sweets. Carbs are kept to a minimum or completely cut out of these meals. Not every FF meal is heavy on the cheese. From time to time it’s important to focus on a purer form of fat, like coconut oil or olive oil. These meals are great for taking care of cravings and for helping you feel like you’re “cheating”.

Neither Here Nor There (NH): These meals aren’t heavy in carbs or fat. They’re lighter meals, often times snacks that are there to give your metabolism a shock. You don’t want to eat these too often, but a couple times a week won’t hurt.

If you’re a nursing or pregnant Mama feel free to combine fuel sources a few times a week to keep your milk supply up and your weight healthy.
